About the event
This workshop is offered by Joanna Shippam, local artist and paint maker: Uncover the vibrant colors in our local landscape! Join me for a hands-on pigment making workshop at Millwood Community Garden. We’ll walk to the river to collect raw minerals, then return to the garden to grind these stones into powders and learn the meditative art of mulling them into paint. This intentional, slow-crafted process invites curiosity and connection to the beauty of our environment.
Every participant takes home a starter kit including a mortar and pestle, glass slab, and muller, plus the paints created in class. Learn to source natural color and gain the tools to continue at home!
Note: One portion if this event is non-ADA accessible, and requires a short hike down to the Spokane River on steeper ground. Please reach out to Amy, amy@millwoodimpact.org, if you have concerns or questions about access. We are happy…
